Water Sports Activities 

 

Skyros with its 130 km of coastline, extensive beaches, steep coastline, picturesque bays, sea caves and seaside villages are offered for year round regardless of weather conditions, offering unique moments of relaxation, fun and exciting experiences.

 

What to do:

Swimming in the crystal clear blue beaches.  Kalamitsa (great beach), Saint Peter (Saint in the north side of the island), Kyra Panagia (west side),  Agios Fokas,  Aspous, Pefkos,  Acherounes (near the port of Linaria), Molos, Magazia  are some of the most outstanding beaches in Skyros.

Diving (Scuba diving). The geographical position of Skyros, the bottom of the sea, the reefs, the ship wrecks, the sea caves, and the rocky coastline of the island are offered for exploring. The organised diving centre can offer you diving training and provide you with the necessary rental equipment. Along with the boat, that is suitable for diving you can enjoy an organized diving excursion.

The diving is prohibited in the area around the airport, the archaeological place Palamari and the “Three Boukes” (tris Boukes)

Snorkeling Using a mask, snorkel, sea shoes, and optionally, sea suit, under the supervision of an instructor / attendant PADI you can swim on the surface of the sea admiring the underwater world without doing diving.

Windsurfing and Kite surfing. The ideal winds in Skyros throughout the year make the area one of the most ideal destinations for learning and practicing this kind of water sports.

Sailing. The fishing shelters and the anchorages in Skyros facilitate the dockingof the sailboats. The process of anchoring at Linaria port, Achilli, Kalamitsa,  Diapori, Pefkos, Agios Fokas  and  Atsitsa is an easy case.

Sea routes – touring and boat trips todeserted beaches, to rocky coasts, to sea caves, to islets etc. Daily excursions and cruises to exotic bays, traditional ports, picnics with the famousgreek drink “ouzo” are organized by specialized tourist offices safely and professionally.

Fishing f you like fishing you can rent the suitable equipment inthe diving centre or in a shop, related to fishingor even participate in organized fishing excursion. Skyros is a rich fishing spot. You can find any kinds of fish such as seebream Seabass, Squid,  lobsters,   etc.
